uShaka Surf and Adventures and Jeep Apparel Assist Headway Natal with a classic Beach Day

Thursday, 14th February, 2008

Headway is a charity organization set up to enable survivors of Acquired Brain Injury and their families to 'Make headway to a better future' - by putting them in touch with each other, and by advising them about the various resources which would support them and help them to move forward along the road of rehabilitation.

uShaka Surf and Adventures were approached by Gillian and Ntokoza from Headway Natal with regard to putting together a Beach Day for the people under their care.

On the 15th of February, the group arrived to find the beach fully set up for the group with Gazebos, loungers and umbrellas. uShaka Surf and Adventures facilitators Bongani Mathe, Lucky Khumalo, Sean Uys and Shaun Sellman assisted the participants to enter the sea using our specially designed amphibious wheelchair. Using this fantastic device and under the watchful eyes of the trained lifeguards, the headway team were able to enjoy a dip in the sea.

In addition, a number of sight-impaired individuals got to experience an ocean kayak tour with experienced kayak guide Lucky Khumalo.
