On Saturday we had our youngest ever surfing student get up and riding. Our previous youngest learner was 6 years old. Children of this age require specialized attention but out coaches are often surprised at the speed with which younger children learn to surf.
Each child is evaluated based on physical size and comfort in the water. Often with really young kids it helps to have their parents on hand. Individual attention and encouragement is always required and coaches need to be entirely focused.
It’s amazing to think that by the time this little guy hits 15 years old he will already have been surfing for 10 years. A potential world champ in the making? Only time will tell.
